On June 21, 2002 One of God's most beautiful animals came into my life. |
|
|
What a beautiful face ! |
|
I found Starbuck at the bottom of my driveway, alone, falling and limping right where three dogs are allowed to run loose. I decided to take him. After several phone calls I learned he should have lambs milk. |
|
His Name I posted this picture taken shortly after I found him, on "The Art Forum," a computer list I was on. I needed a name for him. Greg Dempsey suggested Starbuck. It was the perfect name for this beautiful little buck. Thank you Greg ! |

Starbuck and Choo enjoy Christmas Morning |

|
| On February 9 the guys were
inside and I put them out around four 0'clock. When I went to check
on them and call them in Starbuck did not come. If he was within
hearing distance he always would come to my whistle. Another day
went by and still no Starbuck. Choo Choo went looking but did not
find him. I went out walking with Choo and still
no Starbuck. I always knew a day would come when he would leave. I
did not think it would be so soon.
I never wanted him to feel he was penned up, . I wanted him to have the freedom that an animal deserves. There was a low part of the fence he could jump. I worry that some wild animal may have found him. I hope he is safe out there and will return. I need worry no longer. On February 11 I found his body. It was in the yard near the fence. We think he was running and frolicking and hit the fence (chicken wire) and broke his neck. I have heard it is not uncommon for that to happen. If it is possible for perfection to exist in this world it was within him. Perhaps he was to perfect to have to deal with the world outside his yard and the dangers that lurk in the wild. I know he was happy while he was here. He enjoyed running across the yard. It was such a pleasure to see him and Choo Choo run together. He loved Graham Crackers and Raisin Oatmeal cookies. Choo Choo and Starbuck were always looking for ways out and wandered the woods. They liked to hang out together. Choo is missing his buddy. All my animals are special but there was a specialness about Starbuck that is impossible to define. He was a beautiful, loving, gentle wonderful little guy. He was growing into a handsome young buck. It has been an honor to be able to have him with me the last eight months and a privilege to know him. I love him so much! ! He shall forever live in my heart. You were truly a gift from God Starbuck.
